Coryn Bina, Co-Founder, Co-Board Chair

Coryn Bina grew up in California and moved to Boston to attend Emerson College. During college she began pursuing her interest in youth mentoring and founded a youth group in Belmont which was affiliated with the National Federation of Temple Youth (NFTY). The Belmont chapter focused on community issues relating to children.

Joining the family coffee and hospitality business after college, Coryn used her financial acumen, vision and management talents to continue to grow the family company and expand into other areas. However, Coryn's passion lay in reaching out to the community and continually made her company available to support numerous causes. After getting married to Babak Bina and having children, Coryn retired from the family business. During this time, Coryn continued to be active in volunteering her time, including spending time with children who were patients of the Shriners Hospital in Boston. For two years she was also the fundraising chair for The Foundation for Children with AIDS. Coryn and Babak, volunteered together to help raise funds for Casa Myrna Vasquez, a battered women and children’s shelter in Boston as well as fundraise for numerous other local non-profits.

Coryn’s introduction to the equestrian world began when her husband took her to her first polo match. His life-long love of horses appeared to have an impact on their eldest son, who wanted to ride a horse. The problem was that nobody taught 4 year olds recreational riding. Coryn contacted a therapeutic riding instructor, Terry Snow, who taught children with special needs and just happen to have a cancellation for one afternoon and offered that spot to Coryn’s son. She observed Terry teaching children with special needs and wondered why typically developing siblings and parents were not involved in the program. Coryn's son ran around the arena with a little girl with Autism and they took turns riding as well. Observing the children together had a big impact on her. Then she wanted to know what her son and this little girl were experiencing and decided to try a lesson with Terry for herself. This changed her life forever. All it took was one ride for Coryn to decide to combine her life-long desire to help children with her new passion, horseback riding. She wanted to create a place which was going to integrate those with and without special needs while additionally giving support to the families. Coryn and Babak were planning on starting a family foundation and decided that this "arena" would be a perfect way to give back. Shortly after, the BINA Farm Center (BINA) was created with the mission to bring Equine Assisted Activities and Therapies as well as numerous inclusive programs to as many children and adults as possible. Coryn attended the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NAHRA), now known as PATH International, conference in 2009 and became a member. From 2009- July 2017 she volunteered full time as the Executive Director at BINA and forgoed any salary so more children can receive scholarships. Coryn is dedicated to bringing the full vision of BINA to reality. Coryn was chosen as a Boston Celtics NBA Hero Among Us in January 2018.

Coryn lives with her husband and two teenagers outside of Boston. Coryn founded a Entertainment Production Company where she gets to use her creative passion for social causes.
